Kojima Productions is struggling with the ongoing SAG-AFTRA strike, which is negatively impacting the production of games like OD and Physint.
Kojima Productions has announced that development of its upcoming games OD and Physint has been impacted by the ongoing SAG-AFTRA strike.
According to Hideo Kojima, in the second half of 2024, scanning and filming work for “OD” as well as casting for “Physint” were suspended due to the strike. Kojima hopes to resume this work in 2025.
Mr. Hideo Kojima known: “Thank you for all your support in 2024. It was a year full of things: DS2 development, the release of our second trailer, ADR for the actors, music production and recording, Japanese voice recordings. We started playing and building the game in the summer. We were also able to hold a TGS stage event for the first time in 5 years.”
“For OD, we developed the game and had the actors and environment scanned. In the second half of the year, scanning and filming were suspended due to the SAG strike.”
“Casting for Physint has also been suspended due to the strike. We hope to start again next year.”
“Personally, I have an ongoing series of essays published in Anan and Nikkei newspapers, radio programs such as Hide Radio and KOJI10, a special episode of HideoTube and also the Hidemys 2024 book fair, which I almost gave up on.”
“I continued to comment on films and novels, although less than usual. Preparations and planning for the live-action DS film with A24 as well as other adaptations are ongoing. I signed with WME. We also held a Death Stranding Exhibition at Shibuya PARCO (Nagoya and Osaka will be held next year). It was a year that flew by. Thank you for your support over the past year. I wish you a happy new year.”
