GSC Game World, the developer of the series, has announced that the console and PC versions of the original STALKER games will be updated sometime in 2025. This is particularly relevant given that the original games, such as STALKER: Shadow of Chernobyl, Clear Sky and Call of Pripyat were released over a decade ago and have gone without significant updates for a long time.
The STALKER series has had an interesting journey since its inception in 2007. The original games were released exclusively on PC, but this year, GSC Game World has finally released the trilogy for Xbox (One and Series) with STALKER: Legends of the Zone Trilogy. Now, with the success of STALKER 2: Heart of Chornobyl, it seems the developers are ready to give the classic trilogy some more love. The reception to STALKER 2 has been very positive, with over a million copies sold in less than 48 hours, and GSC Game World announced that the game had already turned a profit, despite an estimated budget of over 80 million dollars.
After the release of STALKER 2, the team continues to work as on the first day
As for updates, GSC Game World mentioned that it will continue to support STALKER 2, release a next-gen patch for STALKER: Legends of the Zone Trilogy, and provide updates for the PC versions of original STALKER games. In fact, this update aims precisely to bring the console version closer to the more prepared PC version.

The most recent STALKER 2 update, version 1.1, was an important step in this direction. This update fixed over 1,800 bugs and significantly improved the gameplay experience. Some of the fixes focused on improving the A-Life artificial intelligence system, which is used to give realistic behaviors to characters non-playable (NPC) characters in the game. Heart of Chornobyl had some launch issues, but a month after release, we can't say that the game hasn't improved.
