In a new video, the DayZ developers look back on an eventful year.
The new DayZ 2022 year in review video takes a look back at what the year had to offer for all players.
DayZ received four updates this year across PC, Xbox, and PlayStation. The aim was to keep the game exciting for new and experienced players alike. Some pretty big additions in terms of assets and features have been fine-tuned. While all of this was happening, the team and its processes were fundamentally transformed as part of the ongoing restructuring in preparation for the team’s growth and future challenges.
“Another goal of ours was to stabilize the game. The stabilization process included a deeper look at long-standing stability issues, exploits, and recurring bugs. We’ve combined these bug fixes with eye-catching themes in each update to generate more awareness and support our marketing efforts.”
“Update 1.16 opened the year with a purge intended to stabilize the build, aided by the firepower of the Bizon SMG on the asset side. Update 1.17 was all about craftsmanship. It introduced improvised bone spears and knives, and a very popular mummy outfit made of rags. Update 1.18 introduced an explosive summer season with industrial and homemade explosives and a grenade launcher. Finally, the highlight of the year was update 1.19, which upgraded our Livonia DLC with the first large underground area in the game. We also introduced the M1025 multirole vehicle, which was supported by a vehicle simulation and character collision update that fixed a ton of bugs and exploits throughout the gameplay.”
