Mafia: The Old Country introduces a new protagonist that players embody. Enzo's story takes place in a time when wielding a stiletto knife was a deadly skill, the lupara (a sawed-off shotgun) was the weapon of choice, murderous vendettas raged for decades, and mafiosi ran their protection rackets on foot, on horseback, or in early automobiles of the 20th century.
With determination, Enzo survived a childhood of compulsory labor in the hellish sulfur mines of Sicily. Now chance offers him the opportunity to join Don Torrisi's crime family, where he is willing to do anything to create a better life for himself.
Through his oath to the Torrisi family, Enzo commits himself to a code of honor that brings with it both power and privation. He must never forget one simple truth: family requires sacrifice.
“Mafia: The Old Country pays homage to the old, dark Mafia stories, allowing players to discover the origins of organized crime,” said Nick Baynes, President of Hangar 13.
“Everyone at Hangar 13 is committed to creating the most authentic and intense story in the franchise, and we can’t wait for players to experience the journey with Enzo.”
Launched in 2002 with the release of the groundbreaking game Mafia, the franchise has sold more than 35 million copies across consoles and PC to date. Hangar 13 has spent 22 years immersing players in brutal mafia worlds, and now these franchise veterans are focusing on Mafia's The Old Country.
