Nintendo is very angry because of the leaks about the Nintendo Switch 2, believe the console manufacturer's former PR managers.
Leaks about the Nintendo Switch 2 console have been circulating on the internet for months. The official announcement may have been sobering for some people.
Leaked features such as the size of the console, the new Joy-Cons with mouse function or the logo have turned out to be true.
People at Nintendo probably weren't thrilled at all.
Kit Ellis and Krysta Yang, two former PR managers at Nintendo, also agree. The two spoke about the impact of the leaks in a YouTube video.
“I am 100% sure they are really angry, to the extreme. We joke about the hot exclamation point emails. They are hot, hot, hot. How many exclamation points can there be at the end of an email like this? They are very, very, very upset about this,” Yang said.
An investigation into the leaks will have a negative impact on the market launch because it will distract Nintendo employees, Yang continues. This causes “high levels of stress” in their normal work. “It’s a very chaotic situation and a real cauldron.”
According to Ellis, they have very good people for such investigations. Eventually we will get to the bottom of the matter.
It will probably be more difficult for Nintendo to surprise customers. According to Ellis, it “has an impact on the way we will all view this official announcement.”
The two ex-managers consider speculation that Nintendo itself is behind the leaks to be more than unlikely. “There is absolutely no one doing this intentionally,” Ellis said.
“It really has a very disruptive impact on what the company is trying to do now, which is announce and launch a new console, which is hard enough as it is.”
