Ever since Valheim was released on Xbox Game Pass, I couldn’t stop playing it, as its aesthetics and gameplay are unbeatable when it comes to a Viking survival game. Well, thanks to this discovery, another one has arrived that sounds pretty exciting, and also, it’s coming to Steam this year.
This is Enshrouded, an action-adventure open-world survival game created by Portal Knights. This game, although we only know its trailer, we already know thanks to one of the developers that it is inspired by Valheim and Zelda, since it will contain elements of these games. The differences are notable, but some key points are taken directly from these 2 games.

If you are one of those who are passionate about survival and resource management experiences, this is probably one of the best options you will have. As seen in the trailer, they’ll be borrowing their story progression system from Valheim, seeking out the last enemies in the world to keep progressing in fortification and crafting weapons and armor. In addition, they will take over the structure of Zelda’s dungeons, giving an interesting jump to the flatness of this exploration in Valheim.
In this case, the world is predefined and non-procedural, which seems to rely on the narrative. In addition, combat will have a crucial role, giving great diversity to magic attacks and melee. Enshrouded will undoubtedly be a big surprise for this year.
According to the developers, Enshrouded will arrive in 2023 on Steam in a “preliminary game” format, so it will surely take a few years to arrive on consoles.
