Microsoft does not intend to give in and continues to use all its arguments to overthrow those who oppose it and their maneuvers to complete the takeover of Activision. We recognize that this sounds a bit like a Turkish soap opera, but the fact is that the Microsoft team is very clear about what they want to do and where they are heading, which is why they attacked the FTC again with a new response manager.
Right now we’re getting into legalese, stuff that probably escapes many of us, but in short, the company is trying to use every legal tool and every law to knock down the charges and the arguments advanced against said acquisition. There is no reasonable or legitimate reason why this acquisition cannot be completed. Our industry has enormous leeway and very few barriers to entry. There are more devices than ever to give gamers a wide range of gaming options. Graphics engines and development tools are available for developers big and small, and the breadth of game distribution options has never been so big. I believe we will prevail on the merits of this case.
Microsoft still has it in mind to close the deal next year, but for now what’s certain is that we’ll continue to have new battles until one of the current soap operas comes out. industry is over.
