It was previously announced on Xbox Wire that the 40th anniversary update Microsoft Flight Simulator will be available for free from November 11, 2022. It will arrive for all Xbox Game Pass subscribers and those who own a copy of Microsoft Flight Simulator on Xbox Series X|S, PC with Windows 10/11 and Steam.
The 40th Anniversary Update includes, for the first time, helicopters and gliderswhich are the most requested improvements by the community of Microsoft Flight Simulator. Also, fans of Microsoft Flight Simulator will be able to benefit classic planes like the 1903 Wright Flyer, the 1915 Curtiss JN-4 Jenny, the magnificent Grumman G-21 A Goose and the famous Hughes H-4 Hercules, better known as the Spruce Goose. There are also new airports, new missions and much more.
On another side, Microsoft Flight Simulator released City Update 01a free update that uses photogrammetry to almost perfectly recreate five German cities in Microsoft Flight Simulator. These cities are Hannover, Dortmund, Düsseldorf, Bonn and Cologne.
