Microsoft Flight Simulator is Microsoft’s longest running franchise with a history of 38 years and we are proud to announce that the newest entry is the fastest to grow to over 2 million pilots. It was made possible thanks to the incredible community of fans, real-world pilots, flight enthusiasts and virtual travelers who have embraced the new simulation since it arrived on August 18th and made it the biggest game launch in Xbox Game Pass for PC history. On behalf of the entire team, a big thank you to all the fans who went to heaven and explore our world as they discover the magic of flight with us.

The community piloted more than 50 million flights and have signed up flown more than 3.5 billion miles to this day – that corresponds to a return flight from earth to the sun 19 times or around the world over 400,000 times. It was humbling to see the positive reactions to it Microsoft Flight Simulator

and we feel incredibly fortunate and blessed to have such a dedicated community that continually helps us improve the simulation with their ongoing and insightful feedback. We are also enthusiastic about the community of developers who have already adopted our SDK and developed over 500 airports, aircraft and other add-ons in the short months since it was launched. The quality of work, knowledge and passion of the creators are an inspiration to our team every day.

Looking back, December was already an incredible month. It was great fun being part of the Microsoft Holiday Commercial 2020 in which Microsoft Flight Simulator helped Rufus and Sam soar across the sunny skies of snowy Pittsburgh!

It was also a great honor to win “Best Sim / Strategy 2020” at The Game Awards last week. The team is very proud that we were able to follow the history of the past Microsoft Flight Simulator Titles that have received such awards and we are humbled to be selected from the amazing group of games that have been nominated for this award. The evening was perfectly rounded when we announced this Microsoft Flight Simulator

coming to Xbox Series X in summer 2021 | S. The trailer, recorded in real time on the Xbox Series X, already gives a glimpse of how incredible the Sim will look in terms of console in just a few months.

As a thank you to everyone – die-hard Simmers and newcomers to flight simulation – we are pleased to announce that, in addition to the VR update, which starts on December 22nd, we are preparing some surprises. Each one will be unique Microsoft Flight SimulatorThe themed paint scheme for the entire take-off plane fleet and Simmers can fly in the same cute dog-themed paint jobs that Rufus and Sam flew in their Pitts Special. Given the time of year, the update will add real-time snow and lifelike ice cover to the entire planet.

As we’ve said time and again, our start in 2020 was just the beginning of our journey with Microsoft Flight Simulator. We’re excited to carry this momentum into 2021 – we’ll be on Xbox Series X | this summer S start, we are planning 3 big updates for the simulation and we will update the world 4-5 times with additional world updates (also as some other surprises we have planned).

Thank you for all your support and see you in the sky! Happy Holidays from the Microsoft Flight Simulator Team. Let it Snow!
