One of the most robust and versatile aircraft comes to Microsoft Flight Simulator
In conjunction with the release of World Update X: United States, we are pleased to announce today the fifth aircraft in the Microsoft flight simulator “Local Legends” series, the Beechcraft Model 18. It is a low-wing, twin-engine multirole aircraft manufactured by the American aircraft manufacturer Beech Aircraft Corporation. Often referred to as the “Twin Beech” or more rarely as the “Beech 18”, it offers six seating in typical two-crew configurations. It made its maiden flight on January 15, 1937 and was introduced to mainstream service shortly thereafter. More than 9,000 were made between 1937 and late 1969.
Thanks to its two muscular radial engines, the all-metal Twin Beech has ample power and has met needs that include p assenger and cargo service, business and executive transportation, science, firefighting and mapping. During World War II, more than 4,500 of the aircraft, designated C-45s, were used for forward observation, reconnaissance and bombing. Today, despite its age, the Model 18 is used in more than a dozen countries around the world, a testament to its sustainable design and robust construction.
The Model 18 features a slightly swept main wing with a span of 47 feet, 8 inches, traditional landing gear and a twin tailplane consisting of one horizontal stabilizer and two vertical stabilizers. It is powered by two wing mounted Pratt & Whitney R-985-AN-1 Wasp Junior 9 cylinder radial engines producing up to 450 hp each. The Beech 18 has a range of 1,130 miles, climbs at 1,200 feet per minute and has a service ceiling of 20,500 feet above sea level. It cruises at 211 mph, stalls at 77 mph and has a top speed of 230 mph.
The Beechcraft Model 18 comes with a total of ten liveries: a historic Navy, Aviator’s Club, Xbox Aviator’s Club and seven civilian variants. Soaring through the air with the Beechcraft Model 18 is an unforgettable experience for every pilot. The fabled machine has provided aviators with power, control and prestige for decades. Try it today! It is available in Microsoft flight simulator In-Sim Marketplace for $14.99. Stay tuned for more Local Legends planes coming soon. Heaven is calling!
Microsoft flight simulator is now available on Xbox Series X|S and PC with Xbox Game Pass, PC Game Pass, Windows and Steam, as well as on Xbox One and supported lower-spec phones, tablets and PCs via Xbox Cloud Gaming.
