The rights to publish two sequels to Sunset Overdrive are held by Microsoft.
With Sony’s acquisition of Insomniac Games in 2019, there will probably be no further part of Sunset Overdrive on the Xbox, but Microsoft still has rights to successors.
Information about this has now been discovered from the leaked documents that came from the hack attack on the studio.
Microsoft therefore has the publishing rights to two sequels to the Xbox One exclusive action game. A new part could appear exclusively for PlayStation in the future, but distribution would be carried out by Microsoft.
In addition to the games, Microsoft also owns the rights to any DLC, ports and accompanying software on mobile devices, handheld devices and more, which are referred to as “associated experiences”.
