Things don’t seem to be calming down between Microsoft and regulators trying to stop Activision Blizzard from taking over $69 billion. However, it would seem that the FTC, the American regulator, plans to sue Microsoft for having a movement which would seek to control part of the industry, generating a monopoly in video games, all this, according to the website. Now, and according to BloombergIt looks like Microsoft has pulled out its claws and is preparing to sue the FTC if it proceeds with the lawsuit. We know this from someone close to Microsoft who has great knowledge of what’s going on with their lawyers. Now this implies that they see it as very likely that they will try to stop the purchase, so they are “ready to fight” and defend the acquisition in court; place where they would surely win.
Microsoft finds itself between a rock and a hard place, but nothing will stop them
The measures they opted for with Xbox were to offer concessions to regulators and Sony PlayStation, to offer games like Call of Duty for long periods of time before they became exclusive to Xbox and its services. Considering that, it looks like Sony is on board, as they reportedly met with Microsoft executives to discuss the matter.
If that were to happen, the deal between Microsoft and Activision would be the biggest move in the history of the video game industry. That’s why eyes are on this purchase and why many competitors consider it a “real” threat to the gaming community.
