When we started working Monster Energy Supercross – The Official Video Game Season 6 we knew the task would not have been easy. Fan expectations grow year by year, and with this chapter we’ve decided to up the ante and take on a double challenge: staying true to the game’s simulative spirit while ensuring that even the most inexperienced players can fully enjoy it and fully enjoy the adrenaline and competition of Supercross.
This concept has driven the entire development process and we are very proud of what we have achieved: like never before, this year’s chapter opens its doors to all types of players thanks to 8 different game modes for every skill level. Beginners and experienced players alike will all find something to love Supercross 6.
Of course, every journey to fame requires passion and dedication, and Supercross 6 is no exception. Riders learn the basics at the Supercross Academy, where they meet a very special coach, Jeremy McGrath, better known as the “King of Supercross”! Imagine being coached by the legend you always looked up to. That’s what players will experience, as the seven-time Supercross Champion will be their personal mentor, guiding them through a variety of tutorials and challenges designed to ease the learning curve and accelerate progression. These will help newcomers take their first steps in the Supercross world, while experienced players will learn how to hone their technique and reach their full potential.
Importantly, the new Supercross chapter aims to give players full control over their riders’ development. For example, they can use the Skill Tree to choose which skills they would like to develop according to their personal driving style. We’ve also added several new tools and settings to allow full customization of driving aids (e.g. auto steering, auto brakes, auto throttle, etc.) and bike settings.
Supercross means competition, but not only that; Mastering your bike is about putting on a show and throwing your heart into breathtaking jumps. That’s why we also wanted a “safe” place where our players could just relax and unwind. That location is Supercross Park, a massive free-roaming environment with five different areas to explore alone or with friends. Here players can take a break from the pressure of racing and enjoy their bikes riding over original tracks, huge jumps and many hidden zones to be discovered. The Supercross Park is also the place where they can recover from injuries through the special challenges of the Rider Shape system and train under the guidance of Coach McGrath to always be on top form.
And for a quick adrenaline rush, we’ve developed a brand new game mode, the Rhythm Attack: a new head-to-head duel that pits players against dexterity in fast-paced 1v1 shootout races on a straight rhythm section and speed are required game. And to decree who the king of the couch is real, we’ve brought back split-screen to fuel the fun with friends.
The helmet and track editors, much appreciated in the previous chapters, give our community the possibility to share their creations online and cross-platform, while two new important additions will improve the multiplayer experience: full cross-play, online matchmaking for all console system, and a new ranking system constantly tracks online achievements. So full throttle and off to the top!
