MotoGP 22 offers the best racing experience on two wheels

MotoGP 22 is Milestone’s 10th game in a row dedicated to the most famous motorcycle championship in the world. Someone might think that after all these years it’s difficult for me to come up with something new to put into the game… but the truth is that MotoGP is a world full of stories to tell, some from the present day , others from the past. And the main course of MotoGP 22 is exactly one of those stories, thanks to the new game mode Nine – Season 2009.

Nine, as the name suggests, is a historical mode based on the 2009 MotoGP season. But Nine is also the culmination of my journey that I started three years ago when I first spoke about this game mode with Michele Caletti, my Executive Producer and one of the biggest MotoGP fans I know. It’s not the first time a game has proposed a historical mode, but usually all you have is a choice of 10 famous drivers of the past racing together with no real meaning. With Nine we wanted to create something more complete and offer players all the content of this special racing season… Riders, bikes, circuits: everything is as available as it was in 2009. And above all, we wanted to tell a story. And that’s what Nine is all about, telling a story thanks to many different challenges connected through almost an hour of different films.

So why 2009? Because it’s the story of Valentino Rossi’s ninth and final world title in MotoGP and after his retirement we wanted to celebrate his career in some way. Second, because the grid this year was packed with riders capable of pushing the competition to unprecedented levels. Rossi, Pedrosa, Lorenzo, Stoner: all these riders could enter the circuit and become poetry in motion.

We had great characters and we had a great story to tell, but at this point we need someone capable of telling such an intense story… and then we had the idea of ​​contacting Mark Neale. Mr. Neale is a film director who has worked on acclaimed MotoGP documentaries like Faster, Fastest and Hitting the Apex in the past and it just seemed perfect for the job. I just hope people will enjoy playing Nine as much as we enjoyed creating it!

As I mentioned before MotoGP 22 It’s not just about the past, it’s also about the present. The game features all of the official content for the 2022 season and is infused with the passion for detail that has always distinguished Milestone employees. So don’t be surprised if you see the Ride Height Device installed on the MotoGP bikes (we worked a lot to adapt it to the handling model!), new cut scenes for the starting grid or new boxes. Year after year, little by little, we try to create the most realistic MotoGP game ever.

This year we haven’t forgotten about the newcomers and those who aren’t that keen on hard simulations. MotoGP has many rules and can be difficult to understand at times, so we’ve worked to create dedicated tutorials that explain these concepts through quick challenges. And once you’ve digested it and feel ready for some adrenaline, you can try the new MotoGP Academy. All the circuits of the championship, divided into sectors, analyzed and described by our racing specialist: you will find all the secrets you need to know to choose the perfect trajectory and cut your lap times. Don’t tell anyone, but I use it too.

Finally, we didn’t forget to prepare something special also for those who like to have some fun on the sofa. This year MotoGP offers a split screen mode perfect for challenging your friends on your favorite circuits. And if you need some competition, online modes are waiting for you too, not to mention the MotoGP eSports Champion returning this year for its sixth edition. Well, the level of competition here is a bit too high for standard players, but hey, it’s always fun to watch a race between pro players on TV!

This is just a taste of what MotoGP 22 has to offer… with its managerial career mode, advanced graphic editors and all the new features I mentioned before, I’m sure everyone will find their way to enjoy the game.
