Xbox's recent job posting for an “experienced executive producer” has sparked speculation about the possible creation of a new in-house game studio. The listing mentions that the appointee will lead an unspecified game development team in the San Francisco Bay Area and New York metropolitan area. This has led some to believe that Microsoft may be launching a new game development studio.
The news was first discovered by eXtas1swho said in a recent tweet that this supposedly fledgling Xbox team is a “top secret.”

According to him, Microsoft could align a “big announcement» for this secret team, perhaps in the same way that The Initiative revealed the addition of five new studios to the Xbox brand at E3 2018. Xbox's job posting may not be looking for an executive producer for a single team, but rather multiple teams, which would explain why the posting doesn't specify any studio names.
Xbox already has a total of more than 30 game development studios in three business sectors. major: Xbox Game Studios, ZeniMax Media and Activision Blizzard. Most of Xbox's first-party studios were purchased, with only The Coalition, Halo Studios (formerly 343 Industries), Turn 10 Studios, The Initiative, and World's Edge being local teams. The Initiative, based in Santa Monica, was founded in 2018 and is working on the upcoming Perfect Dark reboot. Although The Initiative encountered some teething problems early on, development on the Perfect Dark reboot appears to have settled into a smooth pace.
Microsoft has an incredible list of Xbox games scheduled for release in the coming years. 2025 alone will bring big hits like Doom: The Dark Ages, Avowed, South of Midnight, Ninja Gaiden 4, Fable and potentially even more.
