X Factor Updates
NHL23 introduces two all-new X-Factors to highlight the world-class skills of our two cover athletes. Called Relentless, Sarah Nurse’s X-Factor increases your ability to shoot and pass when off balance, reflecting how prolific a goalscorer is. Trevor Zegras’ Skilled Up move introduces an entirely new skill move: his famous flip pass over the net.
Last Chance Puck Movement
Last Chance Puck Movement brings a whole new level of authenticity and realism to the game, introducing 500 new animations based on types of player contact and last-minute desperate plays. These new animations mirror real hockey and actual games played on the ice to develop and enhance this specific – and important – area of gameplay.

NHL23 It also brings more control over every action on the ice with updated strategies. Now included is the 1-3-1 power play and the 1-1-2 on the penalty kick countering the 1-3-1 mentioned above. New supported strategies will send an in-game popup to notify players when changing their strategy mid-game might help.
franchise mode
A highly coveted feature is coming to Franchise Mode: Custom Leagues. Become the true commissioner of your league by customizing almost every setup option: choose the number of teams (6-48), divisions (2-8) and conferences in your league. Plus, you can even change the minimum and maximum salary caps for maximum control over your dream league.
Cross-platform matchmaking
Cross-platform matchmaking is coming NHL23 in a post-launch update later this year, and it’s set to revolutionize the way you gamble online. Players of the same console generation can compete in the online modes World of Chel and Ultimate Team. This reduces matchmaking wait times by turning four matchmaking pools into two.
Online versus save lines and strategies
So no one likes having to redefine their lines and strategy every time they jump into online versus mode NHL23 introduces a new feature that allows you to save your lines and strategies. Jump into games faster and be ready for any opponent.
Ultimate team
Players in HUT
For the first time ever, Ultimate Team is expanding the available players even further with the introduction of women’s IIHF players and mixed men’s and women’s HUT rosters. Now you have more options than ever when building your HUT roster with the best available players in the world. NHL23 Live content and events will feature both men and women, so outstanding players in both leagues will be rewarded with special player items.
cottage rivals
To create more incentive to play (and win), a new instant reward structure is being introduced to HUT Rivals: win-based rewards. If you get on a HUT Rivals win streak, you’ll receive an additional reward on top of your usual reward – immediately after each win. The higher your division, the better the additional reward.
