90s meets next-gen
The goal of the outbreak The series is designed to return to the roots of survival horror – crushing difficulty, intense inventory management, retro gameplay, B-horror tropes and modern graphics, controls, and more. Outbreak: Contagious memories drives this forward by delivering the ultimate experience – full voice-overs and next-gen visual upgrades come together in the deepest gameplay ever offered on the series. Everything from smooth 60 FPS performance, fast loading times, fixed retro camera, over-the-shoulder or first-person shooter controls, cheesy voiceovers and cutscenes and much more awaits you. For the first time you will meet fellow human beings (NPCs) and work with them to escape a city overrun by monsters and undead.
A deeper, more terrifying world
The nightmare has never been this real and you will finally learn more about how the nation is dealing with the undead epidemic. From news broadcasts, views of a ruined city overrun by the undead, and hearing how your fellow survivors plan how they will survive, you will be thrust into a world teetering with the plague. When you play on the Xbox Series X | S, you will experience an even more beautiful apocalypse with real-time reflections, extreme violence with blood, blood and bodies remaining in the area, and high-resolution real-time shadows. Sometimes all you have is a little flashlight to light your path with shadows jumping into the distance. Everything is out to kill you and you will have to manage your scarce resources while building the reputation of fighting your undead attackers or fleeing.
Never turn away from a kind face
The entire game is designed to be played either as a solo or optional co-op split screen experience. Unable to deal with what’s lurking in the shadows? Bring a friend while you experience the entire campaign to provide one more flashlight, carry resources, and deal with the threats centered on your destruction. But be warned, another set of hands won’t always make your life easier. You still have tough choices to make on how to share your limited weapons, ammo, and healing items. Take advantage of your linked memory caches when you find them and carefully plan how you will survive. You live and die together, if either of you is killed it will be the end for both of you!
Backstage As a solo indie developer, every aspect is the outbreak Experience is organized, curated, or created by a single person. But it’s the great support from Xbox, along with their incredible hardware, that allows me to focus on creating engaging content rather than breaking endless technical hurdles. The Xbox Series X | S incredible GPU enables little developers like me to bring next-gen graphics like full real-time reflections across the entire title while ensuring a smooth 60 FPS and lightning-fast load times. Thanks to the next-generation CPU and large memory, the continued blood in the fight against the undead. The Xbox toolchains also allow the game to shrink a bit so it runs and looks great on the base Xbox One hardware. It’s an absolute dream to develop for Xbox and I’m really excited that everyone can experience all of these effects in real time that take the atmosphere to the next level.
