Sony broke the two million console sales mark in Japan in 101 weeks.
According to the latest Famitsu console sales figures, as of October 23, the PlayStation 5 has sold 2,027,783 units in Japan.
The number is divided into 1,749,737 PlayStation 5 consoles with disc drive and 278,046 PlayStation 5 Digital Edition.
It took Sony 101 weeks, or almost two years, to reach 2 million consoles sold in Japan.
The predecessor PlayStation 4 needed 90 weeks, the PlayStation 3 even less, namely only 73 weeks.
The price increase and the shortage of electrical appliances in the pandemic should be taken into account in the figures. Also, the Nintendo Switch console is very popular in Japan and has sold more than 25 million units as of June 2022.
