From the publication ofsurveillance 2, The saga will undergo drastic changes. In fact, if you’re hooked on the first episode, you’ll know that The latter will absolutely no longer be relevant when its replacement arrives in Early Access on October 4th..
That was it announced by Game Director Aaron Keller, as part of a Reddit topic aimed at answering questions about FPS. When asked by a user if the two episodes would continue to coexist despite the term “Early Access”, here’s the answer:
We use the term “Early Access” to indicate that this is just the beginning of many new things coming into play. We’re launching with new heroes, maps, and features, but there will be more of these items added se asonally – every 9 weeks. We recently released a roadmap detailing some of this content, with a new character arriving in Seasons 1 and 2, as well as a new map in Season 2. In addition, larger parts of the game that have always been an integral part of the vision of Overwatch 2 were added to the title as live service elements, like the PVE campaign that we’ll see next year. When OW2 releases on October 4th, it will replace the current live service.
Keep in mind that this sequel will be free-to-play and in that context, being forced to drop the first name outright will no doubt be less of a pain. However, this increases the pressure on Blizzard, who must return a clean copy because Regulars no longer have a backup solution if the experience ever poses a problem in the early stages
