10 Chambers, the Swedish video game development studio staffed by industry veterans known for PAYDAY: The Heist and PAYDAY 2, has revealed its new cooperative heist game.
Even though the studio had been toying with the idea of ”returning to the heist theme” for some time, until now, few details had been given, not even the name of the game. Today, with the incredible trailer shown during The Game Awards, Den of Wolves’ name was revealed, with game director Ulf Andersson on stage.
The game has been in pre-production for over two years and a lot of time has been spent building the world and the narrative surrounding it.
“Having worked on heist-themed games in the past, many of which focused on the classic bank heist, the sci-fi aspect will allow us to go beyond what a heist can be.”
“We can only rob a limited number of banks, but The Wolf’s Lair will have a much wider range with industrial espionage, sabotage, assassinations… in reality, the science fiction theme will allows you to try many more things”
Ulf Andersson, founder and director of the game.
Midway City is an unregulated innovation metropolis located in the North Pacific Ocean, founded by large corporations due to the rise of Deep Learning artificial intelligence as a hacking tool, leading to the collapse of global economies and the free fall of the dollar.
When the world desperately needed a revolution in network security, powerful investment firms backed by Big Pharma and the oil industry developed an entirely new concept of data transmission and storage: Biological systems based on the human brain, so fundamentally different from traditional network architecture that they were completely inaccessible to AI.
Even if Den Of Wolves will be released on PC first through Steam as Early Access it is already being designed and developed so that it also reaches consoles. There is no release date yet.
