Phil Spencer: We're focused on approving the Activision purchase

There are still margins until Microsoft obtains approval for the purchase of Activision. In recent weeks we have seen more episodes around this transaction, with statements from the antitrust systems of different countries, with the British as the main protagonist.

Phil Spencer contrary to what it might seem, antitrust regulatory mechanisms should work to verify the completeness of this agreement. For the head of the Xbox division, the most important thing is to finally receive approval for the purchase of Activision, although he admits to not having the habit of making purchases worth 70,000 millions of dollars.

Phil Spencer talks about buying Activision

It may be surprising, but I have no experience on how to do this kind of $70 billion business. However, we are very focused on getting approval from major jurisdictions, so I spend a lot of time in Brussels, London and with the FTC here in the US I would say the discussions so far have been very fair and honest.

It’s a great acquisition, no doubt. Microsoft, with its role in the technology sector, is a great company and I think the discussions that are taking place for an acquisition of this size are warranted, I appreciate that you are devoting these hours to evaluating it.

We at Microsoft are really focused on getting the markets to approve this deal, there’s confidence in that. I was in London last week, I’m still talking to all the regulatory committees and I’m still confident in the success of this agreement.

According to several Microsoft officials, they hope to close the deal in the coming months. We hope that more details about this complex and time-consuming transaction will be revealed soon.
