The studio director talks about the running time of Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth, which is said to be longer than ever before and even a “never ending story” for some.
The Like a Dragon titles are known for their long playing times. The latest part should be no exception, Masayoshi Yokoyama from Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio recently said, and the game could even be a “never ending story” for some players.
In an interview with Automaton Media Masayoshi Yokoyama spoke about the playing time and the fact that new dimensions would be reached. He promises fans and players nothing less than the longest playing time in the history of the series.
“First, the main story is long. There are two main protagonists and numerous other characters, so the number of side stories related to each of them is significant,” said Masayoshi Yokoyama.
“After all, side stories in Like a Dragon titles have always been optional. You can only play through the main story if you want, and you can also play the side stories to feel the scope. Nothing has changed in this regard at Infinite Wealth. Plus, if you try to complete everything, it may never end.”
Some side activities will be so extensive that they could be standalone games, he continued. He went on to say that “about three to four days without sleep” are needed for the main story, with “no detours and almost no side stories.”
However, the game should be played “piece by piece, without forgetting to sleep,” the studio director suggested to the fans.
Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth will be released on January 26, 2024 for Xbox Series X/S, Xbox One, PlayStation 4 & 5 and PC. There are currently no plans to include it in Xbox Game Pass.
