PlayStation studios collectively pushed Sony to release games for PC as well.
Cory Barlog, game director at SIE Santa Monica Studio, revealed in an interview on the occasion of the PC release of God of War game informantthat they pushed Sony to release PlayStation games for the PC.
Other first-party studios agreed that the games should also be brought to the PC. The studios seem to have suggested this to Sony over and over again and eventually pushed them into it before giving in.
“I think it was the collective opinion of all the studios that this is a really good idea. We should take a look. At some point I think the turning point was reached. When we sent so many suggestions down the suggestion box they said, ‘I’m tired of hearing all this. Good, then we’ll do it.’ It’s a process. We’re still figuring out how to do that as a company and as individual studios and what the process and strategy will be.”
More and more first-party PlayStation games are making their way to PC. Among other things, Horizon: Zero Dawn was released in August 2020. Days Gone followed in May 2021. For this year, Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End and Uncharted: The Lost Legacy are also expected on PC.
