In the US, the PlayStation 5 dominates, while the Xbox Series X|S falls behind.
The latest figures from the US video game industry for May 2024 are available.
This gives Circana analysts a new picture of total sales for the current console generation, with Xbox Series X|S and PlayStation 5 both launching in the same week in 2020.
The figures show that the PlayStation 5 sold 8% better than its predecessor, the PlayStation 4, in the first 43 months since its launch.
Things are not looking so good for Microsoft, however. Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S are 13% behind Xbox One sales over the same period. This is also true when compared to Xbox 360.
Quantity is About not available, the values are percentages. According to VGChartz, 58.78 million PS5 consoles are said to have been sold by June 1st, and 28.72 million Xbox Series X|S consoles.
A look at the month of May also shows that SONY was ahead in terms of units and dollar sales with the PlayStation 5. Xbox Series X|S reached third place in terms of units, even behind the Nintendo Switch.
