The Google Play Store is opening up to third parties, meaning games can be purchased and played via the Xbox app on Android in November.
According to the latest decision by a US court this week, Google must open its Play Store to third-party providers in the next three years.
This will allow Android users to buy and play Xbox games on Android in the future.
Xbox President Sarah Bond said Thursday that the decision leads to more choice and flexibility. In November it will be possible to buy and play Android games directly in the Xbox app.
Sarah Bond wrote: “The court ruling opening Google’s mobile store in the US will allow for more choice and flexibility. Our goal is to give more players the opportunity to play on more devices. That’s why we’re excited that starting in November, players will be able to play and purchase Xbox games directly from the Xbox app on Android.”
