NetEase is one of the Chinese vendors that is gaining more and more attention in the global market. And today we learned what could have a big effect on its popularity and globalization: the purchase intent of Quantic Dream, developer behind games like Detroit: Become Human or the upcoming Star Wars Eclipse.
The information was provided by colleagues Insider gamewho also shared the figure that is covered in said purchase: 100 million dollars.
Quantic Dream joins NetEase
According to their sources, NetEase bought Quantic Dream for this amount. A little more than half would end up in the hands of David Cage, founder and executive director of the study, since he held 51% of the company’s shares. This agreement, as we were told in August last year, aims to accelerate the developer’s vision and help create new titles.

This isn’t NetEase’s first big purchase or involvement with a major AAA developer. Previously, he had already invested 100 million in Bungie, in addition to strategic investments in Behavior Interactive or the creation of new studios like Nagoshi’s and Jar of Spark based in Seattle. All looking for a new project that guarantees the creation of AAA projects and manages to open a gap in the world of video games.
