Rainbow Six Siege‘s Operation Brutal Swarm is now live on Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S – and as the title suggests, it’s all about the robotic bees.
Specifically, those deployed by the Kawan Hive Launcher deployed by the new operator, a Singaporean attacker named Grim. Once launched, Grim’s bees swarm in place, and if any defenders get into the swarm, the bees will latch on to them and reveal their movements to the attackers. Get instant access to Grim as part of Operation Brutal Swarm’s premium Battle Pass track, or unlock it in two weeks with Renown or R6 credits. And it’s just the beginning of what Year 7 Season 3 brings to the table.
Grim is a 3-speed attacker equipped with a 552 Comm ando assault rifle or SG-CQB shotgun as his primary weapon and a P229 pistol as his secondary weapon, and can carry a claymore or explosive charges as a generic device. The Kawan Hive Launcher is its main focus, of course, and it can give the attackers a huge advantage, actively stalking any unwary defender caught in its swarms of robotic bees, and pinging them a few more times even after they leave the area.
Starting today, all players can check out the stadium, which has been added to the map pool after making its first debut during the 2021 Road to SI event. Featuring unbreakable glass walls in specific locations that allow you to ping and distract (but not attack) enemies, as well as color-coded areas to make communication easier, it can be used in both regular matches and Team Deathmatch. Brutal Swarm also adds a new gadget for Attackers, the Impact EMP Grenade, which explodes on impact and can short out electrified barriers and other Defender gadgets.
Operation Brutal Swarm also brings new gameplay updates, including tweaks to how attachments work – Oppressors no longer have a damage penalty, for example, and attachments in general are now more widely spread across different weapon types, creating more customization options for players. Players can also now use the match replay feature to report cheaters, and abusive text chat can now result in a reputation penalty. In addition, the card locking system has been updated, allowing players to vote for five cards instead of three.
Grim is now available via the premium track in the Operation Brutal Swarm Battle Pass, while the Operation Brutal Swarm stadium map, EMP grenades, and gameplay updates are live for everyone Rainbow Six Siege Player. When you’re ready to see for yourself how much a few swarms of clingy robotic bees can change the dynamic, get in today.
