Might RPG fans not have to wait five years to play The Elder Scrolls VI after all?
Microsoft and the FTC ended hearings on the acquisition of Activision Blizzard this week. Bethesda and the parent company ZeniMax Media were also an issue in court. Xbox CEO Phil Spencer testified that the role-playing game The Elder Scrolls VI was so far from a release that he didn’t even know which platforms it would appear on.
Previously, documents revealed the new generation of consoles for the period 2028. The Elder Scrolls VI could therefore appear for the next consoles.
However, a Microsoft attorney said at the hearing that Microsoft expects the single-player game The Elder Scrolls VI to be released in 2026.
“When you asked Zenimax about a game that most closely resembles Xbox, he mentioned Elder Scrolls. That is not correct. There are two Elder Scrolls games, one of which is an online game called Elder Scrolls Online – this is a multiplayer game coming to PlayStation today. The game he’s talking about, Elder Scrolls 16… is expected to be released in 2026 as a single player game. It’s not like Call of Duty, which as you know is a multiplayer, multiplatform game.”
While the lawyer may have made a mistake in the exact naming between 6 and 16, fans will be happy to know they might not have to wait five years for a new installment after all.
