In the month of April 2021, Hironobu Sakaguchi released Fantasian, a classic JRPG that many would have liked to throw away and they certainly can, but only if you have an iOS device, since then and until now it has been totally exclusive. Apple Arcade, that kind of Xbox Game Pass only for iPhone or iPad. However, it seems that if you don’t and won’t have this kind of platform, be lucky and you can get your hands on it in the future on your PC.
As reported in VGC, IGN Japan interviewed Sakaguchi at the Magic 2023 festival in Monaco, where he took part in a Q&A session about his career. At one point he was asked about the possibility of seeing Fantasian on other platforms to which the director expressed interest in bringing it “at least” to PC:
We also received many requests to release the game on PC, and there are many more for a sequel. So we would like to work as hard as possible to meet your expectations.
Fantasian is a great JRPG that shows that Sakaguchi is still in good shape
That few people know Fantasian is by Sakaguchi, if they know the game, is one of the problems with hiding the titles under an exclusive. In this case, Apple Arcade has millions of potential users, but it does not operate or intend to operate outside of the mobile ecosystem, which clashes with potential users of a JRPG , which are always those of the console.
However, Fantasian of Mistwalker, is in a kind of “chapter 1”, so it almost necessarily has a future. It would be great news if it was finally open at least on PC, but we’re guessing that’s not just down to Sakaguchi’s wish.
