Following the agreement between Sega and Microsoft a few weeks ago.
In early November, Sega and Microsoft jointly announced the signing of a strategic partnership. The Japanese firm said that this alliance would allow it to develop “Large-scale games in a cutting-edge development environment based on the American giant’s Azure cloud platform”.
At no time did the parties mention that these games, created in part thanks to Microsoft’s cloud tools, would be exclusive to Xbox consoles
“When we announced the Super Game concept, Microsoft was responsive to this vision, which led to the announcement.
In this sense, it is not a question of publishing games exclusively for Microsoft, but of developing Supergames that will be delivered to the world, with its technical support.
Those “Great games” they are at the heart of Sega’s strategy. These are ambitious projects which will require significant funding. The group had already indicated that it was planning invest more than a billion dollars over the next five years to reach your goal. This money will be used to finance development, but also resources and support staff.
Remember that relationships between the Japanese company and Microsoft are very good. Some internal Sega studies, such as Relic Entertainment, worked on projects for the American manufacturer, such as the recent Age of Empires IV. In addition, for several months, many titles reach Xbox Game Pass, and sometimes as soon as they are released. We find, for example, the Yakuza saga or Football Manager 2022. We will see if this association promotes the arrival of the next creations of the Japanese group at the service of Microsoft.
