The director of the first Silent Hill movie claims several new games in the series are in the works.
French director Christophe Gans adapted Konami’s video game series Silent Hill into a movie for the big screen in 2006. He also spoke about Silent Hill on the occasion of the re-release of his film Pact of the Wolves.
In the video interview with JEUXACTU (translated by gaming sym) Goose said that the success of the remakes of Capcom’s Resident Evil series drove Konami to relaunch the Silent Hill series with several new video games.
“Indeed, it’s like… And we know it’s in there… The[Silent Hill]franchise is being reimagined in the form of video games, and as such, the film will become part of a global policy . I believe someone on a forum made that conclusion, and they’re absolutely right; in other words, the film is actually part of a whole. I’m not saying it was Konami that asked us to do a new movie, it’s just that a few months before the pandemic started, early 2020, with Victor Hadida, the rights that Samuel (his big brother, ed.) went through and said to ourselves… We have the Fatal Frame franchise and the Silent Hill license, we have to do something with it.”
“What I can say is that the film is in the works. I work with Konami. Konami are totally into it and I think they have been spurred on by the success of the Resident Evil 2 and 3 reboots, which are wonderful games, we have to give Caesar what’s Caesar’s.”
Only Konami can answer whether the rumors are true. However, the Japanese video game developer has not commented on the rumors surrounding Silent Hill in recent months.
