Epic opening cinematic from Sid Meier's Civilization VII premieres in an unabridged version.
2K and Firaxis Games have unveiled the in-game opening cinematic of Sid Meier's Civilization VII.
The opening cinematic, spoken by Civilization VII narrator Gwendoline Christie (“Game of Thrones,” “Star Wars” franchise), takes viewers on a journey through the ages. When a lonely farmer discovers a buried, rusted saber, his story unfolds.
The saber is passed down from generation to generation, traveling through different cultures and regions of the world and showing such a central theme of the game: history is built in layers. The unabridged version of the opening cinematic can be found here:
Alongside the cinematic, Civilization VII's main theme, “Live Gloriously”, was also revealed. Composer Christopher Tin explains: “With 'Live Gloriously' I wanted to capture universal themes of hope, heroism and transience that shape human history. You will hear words from the Iliad, Beowulf, Popol Vuh and Ramayana that convey a unique depth and emotionality – an expression of human history.”
Sid Meier's Civilization VII will be released on February 11, 2025 for PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch, PC (Steam and Epic Games Store) as well as Mac and Linux (Steam).
