The closed alpha phase for SMITE 2 has ended and the MOBA is now free to play.
Titan Forge Games has released SMITE 2 as a free-to-play game, marking the end of the closed alpha phase. In conjunction with a significant patch that updates the game, SMITE 2 is now available for all players to download for free on PS5, Xbox Series, PC via Steam and Epic Game Store, and on Steam Deck.
The new patch adds 5 new deities to the playable roster, including the newest deity developed from the ground up for SMITE 2: Aladdin.
Aladdin joins SMITE 2 as part of the Tales of Arabia pantheon. The new deity was developed entirely on Unreal Engine 5 and brings unique mechanics to the game. Aladdin is a highly mobile deity thanks to his ability to walk along walls and structures.
His companion, the Genie, grants him three powerful wishes over the course of the game, including the chance to revive after death. Aladdin's ultimate ability allows him to use his lamp to trap opponents in one-on-one combat.

Four additional deities have been added to SMITE 2 with the free-to-play patch, including Geb, the Egyptian god of the earth, and Mulan, the Chinese ascendant warrior. Agni comes to SMITE 2 as a representative of the Hindu pantheon, while Ullr from the Norse pantheon rounds out the long list of new playable deities.
The patch also adds Skirmish, the fan-favorite 3v3 game mode focused on fast-paced, small-scale combat, as well as a brand new Arthurian map. The patch also includes significant updates to the Conquest map and features, as well as an alpha version of the Assault Mode game mode.
Additionally, a new optional improvement in the form of aspects has been added for some deities. These are intended to provide new ways to play the same deities in fun ways, focusing on one or two clear components of a deity kit rather than improving each skill in small ways.
“It's amazing how far SMITE 2 has come since it was first prototyped just over 2 years ago,” said Travis Brown, General Manager and Creative Director at Titan Forge Games. “We couldn't have gotten this far without the invaluable feedback from the SMITE fan base during alpha, and the game is now objectively better than its predecessor in so many areas. We have ambitious content plans for 2025 that will keep our players excited about the future of SMITE 2.”
SMITE 2 has gone through rapid cycles of implementing gameplay improvements throughout its closed alpha phase, with the development team working diligently to incorporate player feedback.
Thanks to the redirection of efforts to integrate existing deities into SMITE 2, the number of playable deities now stands at 45. The team is committed to bringing everyone's favorite deities to the sequel as quickly as possible.
