Last year we published an editorial by my colleague David, which I highly recommend you read, about the Transformers games. About its past, its present and its future, but it seems that the latter remains obscure, since the only known game presented, Transformers Reactivate, was canceled by its developer, the famous Splash Damage, who does not seem to be having a good time, with several projects canceled or stopped in recent years.
Although we only became aware of it relatively recently, a few years or so, it's been in development since at least 2018, with leaked artwork last year giving us one idea or another as to where the shots are going. The tone was much darker than what one would expect from a Hasbro title and based on a rich universe, but especially on toys.
Bad news for fans
In this case, it is worth clarifying a detail, since Activision, and therefore Microsoft, owned the rights to some old Transformers games, but had nothing to do with this new one. Splash Damage posted a tweet explaining that Reactivate's cancellation was not for any particular reason Beyond the need to readjust the studio itself, which must focus on other different projects, the roles dedicated to this game ran the potential risk of being redundant. A word that we have undoubtedly heard in other bad news of this type.

And, according to the studio, this cancellation will unfortunately result in some layoffs within the development team itself. We don't know if 2025 will be similar to last year, which was devastating to the industry's workforce, so let's hope this is an isolated incident. Painful, but isolated.
