Spligate is the multiplayer shooter game developed by 1047 Games. A title that was announced for launch on PC in May 2019 and which launched its open beta with crossplay on June 13. And this fact made the game reach great popularity on all platforms. So much so that the studio was forced to disconnect the beta for a few hours.
And, as they themselves have confirmed, the maximum number of players allowed by their current servers has been reached. something they are already working for.
Splitgate achieves success with its new Beta
In a series of tweets, the studio confirmed that it is developing a queuing system to meet the high demand for the game, while working on a larger-scale solution for the future. A smash hit for a small studio of just four engineers, as they themselves claimed.
We spent all night optimizing further, but after talking to AWS we learned that our database (redis) can only handle 65,536 concurrent players (which we hit last night). So no optimization matters yet. We are working on a queue system to let in 65,000 people until we remove this limitation. pic.twitter.com/SBDpzk0vTy

This great success of the game that many call the perfect mix between Halo and Portal has come about thanks to its cross-play and the ability to play on consoles. An overnight success, as until a few weeks ago it was barely hitting triple digits on Steam in terms of concurrent players.
The studio has promised to make the Splitgate cross-play beta version available again on July 27, 2021.
