The remake of Final Fantasy VII is again news, but not precisely for the joy of Xbox players. Square Enix has officially announced that the game will reach Nintendo Switch 2, which means another step in its multi -platus extension strategy. However, again, The Xbox consoles were outside the equation, without confirmation of date or official confirmation on a possible version.
This movement generated frustration in a part of the community, especially after The company has promised a more open approach to multiplatform. While recent titles such as Final Fantasy XIV and other Square Enix outings arrived in Xbox, the remake of Final Fantasy VII remains the big exception.
Square Enix Lanza Final Fantasy VII Remake on Switch 2, but leaves Xbox aside
The Switch 2 version marks a new chapter in the expansion of the remake of Final Fantasy VII, which initially made its debut as temporary exclusive in PlayStation 4 in 2020. Subsequently, it reached PS5 and PC, and is now leap to the new Nintendo hybrid console. However, Xbox users are always without new concrete on an edition for the Xbox series.
The contradiction with the multiplatform strategy recently announced by Square Enix is obvious. The company had ensured its commitment to bring more games to different platforms, including Xbox, but this emblematic title is still outside the Microsoft ecosystem without clear explanation. For the moment, Xbox players will have to keep waiting, while doubting whether the remake will ever reach the platform.
