GSC game world launched a statement on its social networks announcing that at last STALKER 2 will not include NFT. Even 24 hours was not enough for the Ukrainian studio to back down in its attempt to introduce content hosted on blockchain after severe criticism received from the community.

We have listened to you.
Following your advice, we have decided to cancel any type of relationship with STALKER 2 and the NFTs.
The interests of our fans are our top priority. We make this game for you to enjoy, no matter the cost. If something matters to you, so do we.

The original idea of GSC Game World was to build on this emerging unregulated market in order to continue its economic growth. Before even reversing definitively, the Ukrainian study published a tweet attempting to “better explain” the idea of including this new technology in the Stalker meta, a metaverse in which users could acquire assets exclusive like faces of NPCs or user nicks in their streets. Tweet that shortly after the same study deleted, as Tom Warren (The Verge) shared on social media.
After a few hours of uncertainty, the idea was finally ruled out entirely, as we saw in the final press release. tracker 2 This is not the first game and GSC Game World is not the first company to try to introduce this technology based on blockchain within the video game industry. Where at present, the rejection by the community is practically unanimous due to the speculative movement in which its foundations are forming.
