Now more than ever, human interaction through sports is becoming more important. Multiplayer games offer us a way to bring family members, roommates and partners to bed.
When we first checked out our main mechanic for Star walked, It was clear that we were doing a close two-player experience. The gameplay is similar to the classic Arcade Shooter, but instead of shooting projectiles independently a couple of characters have one magical star moving back and forth between them. This means that both players control the star at all times by their positioning with each other. Teamwork is required to star your enemies. Starboosting, a time-based mechanic that powers the star, adds an element of time that has been told to resemble “the rhythm of tennis space” (which sounds fun).
Star walkedIncludes 5 characters, surrounded by gameplay. In Story Mode, dialogues and scenes change depending on which characters are selected. Players can access the narrative through different lenses to learn more about the characters and their relationships. There are 10 possible combinations!
As we develop your visual identity Star walked, The magical beauty of the princess was naturally appropriate. Girl magical media outlets, such as “Sailor Moon” or “Tokyo Mew Mew,” centers around themes of collaboration and collaboration. In the news, dozens of girls from different backgrounds came together to save the day. They must overcome their differences and learn to work together. As a designer I find that multiplayer games incorporate many of these same themes, as gameplay becomes a conversation between players and you have to adapt to each other's playing styles.
Players need to be on the same page during gameplay, deciding which enemies should be directed first, when to use them in the end, and who is best for the situation at hand. The fluid motion on the screen is important as you go around the space with your partner, as you dance together amid the chaos of a hell-inspired game.
The boss fights in the middle Star walkedThey are specifically designed to disrupt this cycle, which is crucial to successful gameplay. Their moves keep the pace and focus, limit the playing field, and force players to change the way they move on screen. For example, the Witch (pictured below) uses lasers to split the gaming space into sections and divide the players.
Ultimately our goal was to create a game that invited players to work collaboratively, designing all the elements (gameplay, visuals, visuals, etc.) around the experience played by two players.
