Stig Asmussen, the director of the next Star Wars Jedi: Survivor in development at Respawn Entertainment, spoke to IGN about the team’s vision for the adventure of Cal Kestis.
It seems that the idea of a trilogy was there from the start for The Last of the Jedi. The second episode was already being discussed at the time of development Fallen Order
We were already talking about the second game, I mean, to be honest, we even talked beyond that. […] I always wanted to see it as a trilogy.
Asmussen admits teams had a pretty good idea of when Star Wars Jedi: Survivor would take place. Especially since the reflection of a passage on the Unreal Engine 5 was already being considered for the third opus.
I think that’s a pretty safe assumption. I won’t say it will be easy. I mean we have a lot of proprietary stuff that we have adapted to the engine to do what it is currently doing for Jedi Survivor and we would have to rework some of it to make it work on each new engine.
On the one hand, the announcement of a trilogy is not fundamentally original for a saga that has used the process both in films and in previous video games. If the formula is built on the basis of Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order With the technology that Epic Games’ engine offers, gamers can be quite spoiled.
Star Wars Jedi: Survivor Coming to Xbox Series X|S, PS5 and PC on April 28th.
