This 2022 will be a great year for all of us who are fans of the beloved Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, as we will not only receive TMNT: Shreddder’s Revenge from the hand of DotEmu, in a beat them of a retro cut that has a classic arcade look with lots of modern touches, but also Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: The Cowabunga Collection has just been announced, a compilation made by the same Konami featuring all the classic Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles games released on a wide variety of platforms.
The compilation is a three-way collaboration from and named Konami, Nickelodeon and Digital Eclipse that brings together great NES, Super NES, Genesis and Game Boy arcade titles, all with HD textures and new features such as the ability to rewind or save the game at any time. To make things even better, some games will also have local and online co-op. In turn, the production adds two new modes: boss rush and challenge.
TMNT: The Cowabunga Collection, a dream come true
Seeing the list of games this edition contains is truly a dream for many, as for years all the games Konami had produced seemed to be lost in oblivion and limited to emulation. The names don’t let me lie:
- Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (Arcade)
- TMNT: Turtles in Time (Arcade)
- Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (NES)
- TMNT II: The Arcade Game (NES)
- TMNT III: The Manhattan Project (NES)
- TMNT IV: Turtles in Time (SNES)
- TMNT: The Hyperstone Heist (Genesis)
- TMNT: Fall of the Foot Clan (Game Boy)
- TMNT II: Return of the Sewers (Game Boy)
- TMNT III: Radical Rescue (Game Boy)
- TMNT: Tournament Fighters (NES)
- TMNT: Tournament Fighters (SNES)
- TMNT: Tournament Fighters (Genesis)
If anxiety gnaws at you like me, try to avoid it knowing that the game will arrive in 2022, although even if it were released tomorrow, it would seem like an eternity.
