Counterplay Games, developer of the role-playing game Godfall, has been dissolved, according to a report.
The new year does not stop at layoffs and closures in the gaming industry. Now the developer of the PS5 launch title Godfall is said to have been hit.
Counterplay Games has been dissolved, according to a post on LinkedIn. According to the post, which PlayStation Lifestyle discovered and claims to have verified, the dissolution followed a failed partnership with Jackalyptic.
The now-amended post says: “Over the last six months, our project at Jackalyptic has been driven forward by the world-class developers at Counterplay Games.”
“It is impossible to overstate their influence. From day one, they championed the project like it was their baby.”
“Unfortunately we were unable to continue our partnership in the new year and [Counterplay Games] was dissolved.”
Official confirmation of the developer's dissolution is pending. It is also unclear how many people have lost their jobs.
