In its second report for fiscal year 2021/2022, Embracer made the color of its ambitions clear. The Sweden-based company already owns 82 studios and is determined to increase its troops. In fact, THQ Nordic’s parent company says it wants to acquire as many studios as it did last year.
We completed 37 acquisitions in the past 12 months and expect to close a similar number of transactions over the next 12 months.
Also in the same report, the Embracer Group states that it is already on the right track to achieve this goal:
We are currently having a wide variety of processes and active discussions, including a number of exclusive modalities that have already been signed.
Hundreds of games, studios and IPs
The future of the company looks particularly bright. In fact, there are currently no fewer than 197 games in development, 130 of which have not yet been announced. It appears that the group is intent on unleashing a real video game tidal wave.
Here is a non-exhaustive list of some of the licenses that belong to the group:
- Biomutant
- Borderland
- Darksider
- Dead island
- Kingdoms of Amalur
- metro
- Time splinter
- World War Z
With a total of 262 IPs and an ever-growing arsenal of studios, the company has enough to easily feed our consoles, PCs, tablets and phones for years to come.
Due to its urge to expand and the abundance of talent, the Embracer Group is clearly positioned as one of the most important players in the industry.
