Mafia: the old country is the new opus of the famous saga developed by Hangar 13 and distributed by 2K Games. After a trilogy that evolved from a more linear adventure to the open world present in the third part of the saga, this new game will be a return to the origins in both directions. In this new game we will discover the criminal beginnings of our favorite Sicilian gangsters. It should be noted that it is developed using Unreal Engine 5.
Through an interview via VGC Alex Cox, the game director gave new details on this new opus. We leave you below several of his statements, in which he highlights the reason for this trip to rural Sicily in the 1920s and the roots of the saga:
This is where the Mafia It really showed up in the story, it was a reaction to… it started in lemon trees and farms and things like that in the Sicilian countryside, and we wanted that to be the setting for our game. Obviously, it gives a very different feel to those bustling urban environments of the Mafia trilogy, it's a rural environment so yes we're largely in towns and villages in the game.
As is evident, we will have a main city on the map as the “capital” of the game region. Here's how the game director himself explains it:
We mentioned that the town of San Celeste is the main city of our game world, and yes, as expected, it's not like busy streets with traffic and cars and pedestrians and stuff like that, it's riding a horse around a guy. a more rural setting, and I had to visualize it through the beautiful Sicilian countryside.
For now, this is all the news we have on this new opus. What do you expect from the fourth opus of the most mafia saga in video games? Have you already booked it? Mafia: the old country It will be available on PS5, Xbox Series and PC in summer 2025.
