Tropic 6 is the latest installment in the legendary and acclaimed saga of city building and management video games created by Kalypso Media. The game was released on consoles on September 27, 2019. Throughout these years, the game has received DLCs to improve and increase the gaming experience. In this case, from Kalypso Media they bring us the next-gen version. This edition includes both the enhanced game for new systems as well as 2 DLCs and the previous generation version. From here, we thank Kaylpso Media and Koch Media for providing us with a digital copy of the game to be able to bring you this analysis.
As you well know, Tropic 6 It’s been a few years since it arrived on our consoles. Now Trópico returns to continue rocking this generation of consoles with its native version. If you are seasoned readers of the page, you will know that in its time we have carried out the analysis of its Xbox One version, therefore, this analysis aims to make known the improvements it has received in this new version .
Tropic 6 on top
Tropic 6 is coming to Xbox Series in a big way. In this version, and as I mentioned before, we have the 2 DLCs that will expand our adventure even more. The most notable improvements are undoubtedly a general improvement in both loading times and general graphics quality in addition to the technical section. From the moment we enter the game, with each section we go to, the loading times will be insignificant. Loading saved games and new campaign missions in seconds. In this way we will leave behind the infinite loading screens that have stolen part of our time to get to the action as quickly as possible.
Despite the general improvements in the graphics section, it is quite remarkable that it can be improved. Since, for example, making the maximum possible zoom that the game allows us, we notice that the textures and the modeling lack more work and evolution than what we would expect for a version for new consoles .
An excellent technical section
Tropic 6 He undoubtedly has spectacular performances at all times. In the game options, they provide us with 2 different graphics modes: Performance Mode and Quality Mode. They don’t go by those exact names, but the option names make it clear what exactly they offer.
In Performance mode, we can enjoy completely stable 60 frames per second at an average resolution of 1800p without any jerks or drops. While Quality mode delivers native 4K resolution at a steady 30fps. Obviously count on a miniboost in the general graphic quality. As a personal recommendation, both for this game and for others of the genre, I recommend using the Performance mode, the fluidity it gives during the game allows us to move more easily in the game and its menus more efficiently.
additional content
Tropic 6: Next Generation Edition It comes with not only the base game, but also 2 DLCs. What are “El Prez Pack” and “The Llama of Wall Street”. The content in question which is part of “El Prez Pack”, is a cosmetic pack. Add an outfit for our president and a palace that includes a pond for flamingos. “The Llama of Wall Street” is the largest of the included DLCs. It adds islands for the Sandbox mode, a new huge island for the campaign mode that will give us many hours of fun, many new buildings and the possibility that the prices of the products we trade with will fluctuate. Giving a special incentive to our games when selecting the products we are going to trade with. We will have this feature both on the special island of the DLC and in any other game we start.
Is the Next Gen version worth it?
Without any hesitation, I dare say that the New Generation version of Tropic 6 it’s worth it. If you are new to the saga, want to take it to the next generation with an optimized city building and management game, this is your title. Even if you already have the version for the previous generation of consoles, the jump in quality and performance that this version grants justifies the jump. Since we will not only have the base game, but also 2 DLCs that will give us an incentive when it comes time to embark on the waters of Tropico.
So, if you had any doubts about whether or not to acquire this title, I hope this analysis has been able to clarify your doubts. Tropic 6: Next Generation Edition It’s available for PS5 and Xbox Series from March 31, 2022.
