For Far Cry 7 and the multiplayer shooter Project Marverick, Ubisoft is changing its previous Far Cry formula, a report claims.
Ubisoft has reportedly been working on two Far Cry games for more than two years. In January 2023 we reported on Far Cry 7, the next part of the main series, which is being called Project Blackbird.
In addition, an extraction-based multiplayer shooter running under Project Maverick is also said to be in the works.
As Insider Gaming reports, the release of both projects at Ubisoft Montreal is said to have been postponed internally from 2025 to 2026 due to the complex development.
The reason for the postponement is the switch from the Far Cry engine Dunia to the Snowdrop engine. Both games should also move away from the well-known “Far Cry formula”.
While the multiplayer shooter (Maverick) is set in the Alaskan wilderness and players have to fight for survival in harsh weather and wildlife conditions, in Far Cry 7 (Blackbird) players save their family, which has been kidnapped by a conspiratorial cult Conducts experiments on children and animals.
The special thing about Far Cry 7 is that players only have 24 real hours or 72 in-game hours for the rescue. A watch on your wrist shows a timer.
The report mentions further changes that apply to both games. These include fundamental changes to the movement system (tactical sprint, sliding, etc.). There should also be functions such as an inventory system and looting.
