Ubisoft today announced in an official announcement that it has engaged senior advisors to review and pursue various strategic and capital options to achieve the best value for all stakeholders.
This process is carried out by the independent members of the board monitored. Ubisoft will then inform the market in accordance with applicable regulations if and when a transaction occurs.
Operationally, the company intends to continue to drive significant cost reductions, along with a selective approach, and now expects to reduce fixed costs by more than EUR 200 million of the fixed cost base by FY 2025-26 compared to FY 2022-23 on an annualized basis. In December, XDefiant was shut down and three production studios in high-cost regions were closed.
In addition, a renewed focus on game quality and engaging Day 1 experiences was decided. It was also announced that an additional month would be planned for the development of Assassin's Creed Shadows. This additional time will allow the team to better take into account the player feedback collected over the last three months and create the best conditions for the release. The game is now scheduled for March 20th.
Yves Guillemot, co-founder and chief executive officer, said: “We have made good progress in the strategy and execution reviews that began several months ago and are confident that this will position Ubisoft for a stronger future. We have taken decisive steps to transform the group to deliver best-in-class gaming experiences, increase operational efficiency and maximize value creation.”
“We have also recently appointed senior advisors and are actively exploring various strategic and capital options to unlock the full value potential of our assets. We believe there are multiple ways to generate value from Ubisoft’s assets and franchises.”
“In addition, we all support our teams' efforts to create the most ambitious Assassin's Creed work in the franchise and have made the decision to allocate an additional month to develop Shadows to better reflect player feedback collected over the last three months to be able to incorporate. This will allow us to maximize the game’s potential and end the year with a strong result.”
