A strike against Microsoft was authorized in a Zenimax union vote.
The Zenimax Workers union union now voted 95 % for a strike against the company. It represents 300 employees in quality assurance in Maryland and Texas.
As the reason for the strike, the union states that there was no significant progress in negotiations in its two years. Two important points are the obligation to return to the office and an underpayment.
In a joint message from Zachary Armstrong, member of Zenimax Workers United-CWA Local 6215 and Senior Qa Tester, it says: “Mountain payment and costly RTO initiatives have led to many of us on hold because our income does not even correspond to the increasing living costs in the cities in which Zenimax insists that we live and work to live and work, around the employment to maintain. “
“None of us want it to come that far, but if Microsoft and Zenimax continue to show at the negotiating table that they are not ready to pay us fair wages for the value that our work has for our games, we will show you how valuable our work is.”
Minimal wages, no social benefits and lack of continuation in the event of an illness are also criticized.
The coordination only means that the union can call for a strike without having to make further coordination. Officially, she has not yet kicked a strike.
In the meantime, a spokesman from Microsoft has made a statement. It says that a package has been proposed that provides for an immediate increase in salaries and a model with 3 days in the office.
Microsoft says: “Our quality assurance team is an integral part of our business and the key to our ability to deliver games that our players love. We respect the right of the team to express their positions and are determined to find a fair and just solution that recognizes the contributions of the teams.”
“In the course of the negotiations, considerable progress has been made, and preliminary agreements on most topics were achieved at the table. We have submitted a proposal for a package that we consider fair – if it is accepted, it would lead to immediate increases in salary and more solid performance and match the company's hybrid model in the office. We look forward to continuing these progress in the negotiations.”
