Unpacking is the latest game developed by Witch bundle and distributed by Humble Games which was released on November 2nd. As a novelty, this game arrived on day 1 of the Xbox Game Pass Ultimate service on consoles, PC and XCloud. The concept of the game is simple. Through different levels we will unbox lots of boxes as we organize as we please (or as the game sends us) the different rooms of the house as you grow older.
Even though I don’t have one story As such, we see how key objects age over time and deteriorates. Thus giving us the feeling of time passing and of the life of the protagonist, which will give rise to we ourselves create the story that this game will have. The version used to perform this analysis is the PC version. If you want everything tidy and organized, without a doubt this adventure It will captivate you from the first minute.
Pixelart aesthetic adds the perfect touch to the game
The perfect touch to this game is provided by your pixelart aesthetic. Honestly, it’s something that mark your personality and differentiates it from others of the same kind. There are objects that they make special winks at consoles
The sound palette, simply incredible
If there’s anything that stands out out of the box, it’s its range of sounds, has neither more nor less than 14,000 different sounds just for placing and positioning objects. The the soundtrack is excellent, which is very reminiscent of retro management games. And in the credits there is an additional surprise with the OST of this game, which if I remember correctly, at least on Steam, can be purchased separately. The OST of this game undoubtedly keeps us behind the screen by completing the movements that accompany our protagonist throughout his life. From 1996 to almost today.
Simple gameplay for all audiences
Something that Unpacking is a leader in is accessibility at the level of controls. Its controls are simple and suitable for all. In its PC version, with only 2 keys, we can navigate in the whole game environment. With the left click, you interact with the environment, while with the right click we rotate the objects. We will be able to interact with the vast majority of the scene. In some cases, we can reposition objects already present
Along with all this, the main mission by level will be reposition everything we take out of the boxes in the space that the game leaves us. The game gives us enough freedom so that we leave our own imprint in each room we decorate, so that no one player’s room is the same as another’s, giving us great creative freedom. Although there are times when it will not be easy for us to complete the different levels in which our adventure takes place. As an incentive, if we collect or put certain items in rooms in a certain way, we will unlock hidden achievements that without enough curiosity we will not get. So you know if you are a real cazalogros, do not hesitate to give a cane to this unpacking.
Conclusion
Unboxing is definitely a very complete game in his field, and that everything he does, he does it well. It’s a “whole” that makes it a very good game. Graphically, in line with what is proposed, counting on a exceptional artistic section. An excellent sound section with a huge range of sounds, accompanied by a BSO who accompanies us throughout our adventure. Playable, it’s very simple, being accessible to all audiences, and that with enough skill, we’ll take up space where there seemed to be none, giving the player a lot of possibilities to complete each piece.
Despite all this, there is a little shadow that eclipses the game, and they are his duration, which are some 3 rare hours, in my case it’s something that disappointed me a lot, because it looked like he was going to take a longer trip. In addition to objects that have a specific location within the scene which, on rare occasions, will hamper our experience. For everything else, they do not pose a major inconvenience that prevents us from enjoying this adventure between the boxes. Unpacking is available for Xbox, Nintendo Switch, and PC from November 2. As always, if you want to know more scans like these, be sure to stop by your home here in the Xbox area.
