Activision and Microsoft continue to push forward their commercial union, while Sony faces doubts raised by the senator Kevin Cramer for its position in the console market, as well as its agreements in recent years.
Senator Cramer sent a letter to the CEO of Sony, expressing concern about the company's exclusivity agreements, in an effort to protect its position in the market. As a result of these concerns, the US senator requested to benefit from all exclusive agreements for the distribution of games in the PlayStation ecosystem over the years.
PlayStation exclusive contracts in the open
This request refers to all contracts that Microsoft has mentioned in previous months, including the case of Final Fantasy VII Remake, transmitted by blood and many more. Cramer has requested that it be provided with unrevised versions of these documents, as well as information about some of the business transactions conducted by Sony, like Bungie's recent acquisition.
Activision and Microsoft are in the process of receiving government approval for their business merger. Over the past few months, there has been a lot of news and rumors surrounding this union, including major accusations from Microsoft regarding Sony's exclusivity deals.
