Hi! My name is Luca Galante and I am the creator of Vampire Survivor. The game launches today with Xbox Game Pass for Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S, so I’m here to explain more about this weird, wacky, Reverse Bullet Hell game of mine.
Vampire Survivor puts you in the role of a lone warrior fighting off a rising tide of enemies. Attacks are triggered automatically, so it’s your job as a player to maneuver your way through masses of monsters, collect XP and level up your skills. The goal is to survive thirty minutes. This may not sound very long, but believe me, a lot can happen in half an hour!
The choices you make have a huge impact on how each round ends. Will you use melee attacks or ranged weapons? Do you want to do more damage or replenish your health? Each level is randomized, so each time it’s a new challenge.
There’s a huge variety of characters, weapons, and levels to unlock, but the gist of Vampire Survivor is quite simple: the feeling of starting from scratch and becoming insanely strong over time. Many people have described the game as intense, which I believe stems from that exciting sense of escalation best summed up by our tagline, “Be the Bullet Hell!”.
It’s an indie developer cliche, but I really wasn’t expecting it Vampire Survivor become such a phenomenon. I started working on the game as a lockdown project because I wanted something interesting to craft over the weekends. After I got the game on PC (it’s also on PC Game Pass) thousands of people started playing, then millions, and before I knew it the game was everywhere. I’ve spent the past year working hard to expand the game by adding additional content, quality of life improvements, easter eggs and silly jokes. All updates will be included in the Xbox version so console players won’t miss out on any of the fun/madness.
We’ve built an amazing community of survivors online. Now this community will explode again, especially since Vampire Survivor is available today with Xbox Game Pass for Xbox Series X|S and Xbox One.
